General Product Safety Requirement
What are GPSR laws?
The General Product Safety Requirement laws (GPSR) were issued by the EU government in 2024. These laws are designed to enhance consumer protection by ensuring all products on the market are safe for use. The regulations cover a wide range of products and introduce new requirements for manufacturers, importers, and distributors. As a small business owner, I am required to provide detailed information on my products and warn you as the customer if there are safety concerns. I am also required to test my products on safety and this is required of my production partners as well.
How does Storycrossing Studios comply with the GPSR laws?
Storycrossing Studios strives to inform customers about potential risks involved with my products by adding a GPSR card to every order. The same safety instructions will be listed below. Furthermore Storycrossing Studios has tested each product on safety. Handmade and inhouse made products are put near heat, water and skin to test if the product could cause any harm. Products that are produced by my production partners (see production partner section) are tested by these production partners, but are tested again by Storycrossing Studios when the samples are received. For each product type, you will find GPSR warnings below. This is the same text as you will find on the card included with your order.
How do I contact Storycrossing Studios in case of safety concerns and need for more documentation?
In the rare case that a safety concern should arise, please be sure to e-mail Cecilia at storycrossingcecilia@gmail.com. If you would like to be provided with the documentation on my product safety, please e-mail as well. You can also contact Storycrossing Studios by using Etsy messages on my Etsy shop page (not on this website). You will get a quick response.
What if a product is recalled?
In the very unlikely case a product needs to be recalled due to safety issues, you will receive a personal message about your order number and the product batch number. The item will have to be send back to Storycrossing Studios, but you will of course be issued a full refund, including the shipping and return price.
What are the safety warnings for products listed on this website?
Please note: with each order, a GPSR safety instruction card is included.
Paper products (often with a laminate coating)
For paper products such as stickers, prints, notebooks, bookmarks and postcards, please note that these materials should not be close to fire or severe heating. When handeling the products, please be careful of possible paper cuts. Stickeradhesive should not be pasted on skin, fur or edible products. Do not consume any of these products.
Ceramic products
Ceramic products such as mugs have a risk of breaking when exposed to pressure and drops. Though the product has been tested on quality, take care when handeling the product. Do not hold close to fire or severe heat. Store dry and secure. Do not consume. Ceramics are dishwasher proof.
Wooden products
Wooden products such as keychains and pins often include metal to finish the product. Both the metal and the wood should not be exposed to fire or severe heat. The metal has a risk of harming the user due to sharp edges. Though the sharp edges are covered with rubber, please be careful when handeling the product. Do not consume.
Acrylic and epoxy products
Acrylic and epoxy products such as keychains often contain metal to finish the product. Both the metal and acrylics should not be exposed to fire or severe heat. The metal on the products could, even though it has been tested, harm the user due to sharp edges. Please be careful when handeling the product. Acrylic and epoxy coating has been fully hardened. When melted however, these substances could produce toxins to the skin. Do not consume the product.
Rubber products
Rubber products such as mousepads could provide a choking hazard when cut up or snippered. Do not expose to fire or severe heat as melted rubber can cause exposure to toxins. Do not consume. Rubber products should not be put in the (dish)washer or dryer.
Textile products
Textile products such as apparel and tote bags are made of 100% cotton. Do not expose to fire or severe heat. Products should be washed by hand at no more than 30 degrees celsius. Do not consume or cut up. Be careful when wearing the products and make sure it does not tightly wind across a body part to prevent circulation failure.
